Conference Interpreting Services for a Good Cause

Our client’s conference was held in Mexico City and lasted 2 days. Per the client’s request, Language Connections supplied interpreters for the conference to provide simultaneous interpretation for both English and Spanish, as well as to facilitate discussion during the Q&A portion of the conference. Accuracy was especially important in this project because the goal of the conference was so impactful: educating mental health professionals on obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). Therefore, in addition to ensuring that interpreters didn’t become fatigued during the course of the conference, Language Connections assembled an interpretation team with expertise in the mental healthcare field.

One of the biggest challenges involved with this project was the logistics. Because Language Connections had to provide interpretation equipment for the event (including a sound-proof interpretation booth and numerous headsets for both the attendees and the interpreters), the utmost attention to detail had to be paid to the transportation and setup of this equipment. The fact that the project had to be managed long-distance also proved difficult, especially due to the time difference between Boston and Mexico City. Luckily, thanks to the brilliant efforts of our project management team, who carefully monitored the conference even during the weekend, everything ran smoothly despite these challenges.

Results
