Spanish Translation for a Public Health Brochure

Spanish Translation Services with the Right Tone
Language Connections had two major challenges in completing this project. Firstly, the brochure required a great deal of desktop publishing. Since the brochure was laid out in a visually stimulating way, it required our project managers to ensure that even with the changes in the text (because of the English to Spanish translation), the same look was maintained. This took extra hours of work in a desktop publishing program to achieve the same result visually, from English to Spanish.
The second challenge was in keeping the pamphlet’s contents accessible and appealing to the parents it was meant to speak to. Because the pamphlet was written for wide array of parents, the vocabulary and sentence structure needed to be kept at a certain reading level. The Spanish translation couldn’t be written with complicated or overly academic language. That would make the text impenetrable to any parents who had only reached a certain reading level, thus making the whole pamphlet useless. Beyond this linguistic requirement, the content also needed to retain a helpful, informative tone. The translation absolutely couldn’t feel patronizing or alienating to parents, since then they’d simply toss it in the trash.
The Result
