Bringing In Business for a Translation and Localization Services Firm
LC: Please introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Sam Keefe and I’m the marketing manager of Language Connections, a language service company that provides, among many services, translation and localization services.
LC: How did you come to work at Language Connections? How long has it been since you started working here?
I started working at Language Connections in May of 2018. I moved on from another digital marketing/marketing manager role at a tech recruiting firm that I’d been at for about five and a half years.
LC: As marketing manager, what are your responsibilities and how do they complement the work that our project managers do?
My main job is to bring in as much business as I can. We work with a wide range of industries and provide website translation services, professional business translation services, patent translation services, healthcare translation services, and many more. With my excellent team of interns, whom I could not operate without, we increase Language Connection’s web presence and we reach out to potential clients to make sure we’re top of mind if they ever have translation or interpretation needs. Right now, we’re mostly focused on bringing in more business with companies and organizations, rather than individuals and. We’re more focused on things that corporations, nonprofits and big educational institutions need, like global business translation services, business documentation translation services, clinical trial translation, and translation and localization services. Language Connections has been trying to move in the B to B direction for a few years now.
LC: What is your favorite book?
This is hard because I studied English for both undergrad and my Master’s degree. I read a lot of books when I was in school. If I have to pick one, All the King’s Men by Robert Penn Warren made a huge impact on me. There’s so much symbolism packed into the book that it’s just astounding. But the story is also deeply moving. It felt like something much more than just a perfectly executed technical exercise.
LC: What languages do you want to speak or learn?
I would like to learn Spanish at some point and I’d like to learn a little Russian from my coworkers!
