Language Connections provided consecutive interpreting services for a group of German delegates visiting academic institutions in Boston in mid-November. The delegates were representatives from the Bavarian Parliament (Landtag of Bavaria) appointed to the State’s Committee for Science and Art, as well as members of the State Ministry of Education, Culture, Economics, and Art. Our role was to interpret a speech from German to English by Joel Bressler, the Director of Tech Transfer, at Northeastern University. LC Provides Chinese and English Video Subtitling for Boston University
LC Does More Than Just Translation | Video Subtitling
Video subtitling is not as straightforward as it may seem. The translated subtitles must be carefully synchronized with the audio/ visual of the video.
We recently completed a project for Boston University (BU) for which we provided Chinese and English video subtitles. The final product, which can be viewed here, serves as a complement to the BU Bostonia magazine’s online edition.
Another similar project we completed more recently involved translating Chinese subtitles for short video clips. The video clips, which featured BU professors talking about their teaching and life experiences, will be used for the BU provost’s presentation in China.

LC Interprets at Harvard School of Health
LC Interprets for a Joint Harvard School of Public Health/Center for Disease Control Program
This past month we at Language Connections worked on a project involving both the Harvard School of Public Health and the Center for Disease Control (CDC). A two-week, multi-disciplinary course entitled Building Design and Engineering Approaches to Airborne Infection Control, the event brought together technical expertise in the control of human airborne infections such as tuberculosis and pandemic influenza.
We provided both French interpreting services and interpreting equipment throughout the entire course, offered from August 5th-16th at the Harvard School of Public Health. In addition, we translated course materials for various French-speakers attending the course, including attendees from French-speaking African nations.

A joint education program recently hosted by a local university featured discussions regarding a newly established partnership between the school and a Shanghai-based university. Our role at the event was to facilitate discussions between Chinese and English-speaking participants by providing Chinese simultaneous interpreters. The interpreters were selected for their experience in simultaneous interpreting services, a service which demands both great precision and timing so that listeners are not left behind as a result of translation.

Toshio Suzuki is a film producer of anime as well as the current CEO of Studio Ghibli. He is currently considered to be one of the world’s best anime filmmakers. The session will focus on two of his most well-known films, Spirited Away & Only Yesterday, and will provide a forum for those interested in the art form.

LC Provides Russian Simultaneous Interpreting for Bentley University
Russian Simultaneous Interpreting
Bentley University is hosting an Executive Education Program in conjunction with Moscow State University from April 23rd – 27th. Our role during this event is to ensure that the Russian visitors are able to understand and communicate with their hosts throughout their visit. Language Connections will thus be responsible for providing two interpreters for Russian simultaneous interpreting services over the course of the five day program. The Moscow group, accompanied by the interpreters, will be attending fifteen hours of lectures, visiting three to four companies in and around Boston, and will participate in scheduled sightseeing events during their stay. The interpreters will be working continuously with portable transmitters, also known as whisper equipment, which will allow them to move freely between locations while facilitating Moscow State representatives’ understanding during the entire Bentley program.
