Language Connections was happy to provide a certified corporate interpreter when an Ivy League school near Boston welcomed a prestigious Chinese filmmaker to visit their campus. The filmmaker was set to present their film, then give a brief speech. Afterward, the visiting filmmaker engaged in a lengthy Q and A session with the students. To bridge language barriers between the Chinese filmmaker and largely English-speaking students, Language Connections sent over one interpreter (and no equipment was needed). Our interpreter used consecutive interpreting services, rather than a booth or headsets and simultaneous interpreting, because it was especially appropriate to the intimate, informal mood of the evening. The consecutive interpreting services also made more sense for the Q and A section of the evening, a more interactive kind of format. This was also the longest and most important part of the event, so it should have dictated what kind of conference interpreting services were needed.
