Mexican Spanish Conference Interpreting

Recently, a student organization at a major university in the Boston area hosted a two-day conference on Mexico’s future political and economic challenges. Several experts from Mexico were invited to speak including political, legal, economic, and academic experts.
Among these individuals was the keynote speaker José Antonio González Anaya – the Mexican Secretary of Finance and Public Credit. Topics covered during the event included a large array of timely issues, from restructuring Mexican democracy and the economy, to challenges with NAFTA, healthcare, and business development.
To help audience members who did not speak Spanish or English, the student-run group requested a simultaneous interpreting services team to interpret Spanish to English and vice versa during the event, as well as interpretation equipment.
Mexican Spanish Conference Interpreting
Our team of linguists needed to interpret Spanish to English and English to Spanish for presentations and discussions throughout the event. Additionally, their Spanish needed to be adapted specifically for Mexican Spanish-speaking audience members, as there are slight variations between the language used in Mexico and Spain.
In order to ensure effective communication, the Spanish interpreters made sure to have an understanding of the specific issues presented throughout the event and discussions. To help the interpreters perform their job without disrupting speakers, a sound proof interpreter booth was supplied along with receivers and headsets for participants to follow along with the help of the interpretation.
