Prospects for Russian-American Business Cooperation
Boston, MA, June 15, 2016 – The U.S. – Russia Chamber of Commerce of New England (USRCCNE) hosted a breakfast seminar this past Monday led by Mikhail Kalugin, Head of the Economic Section at the Embassy of the Russian Federation to the U.S. The discussion focused on the current strain in the U.S.- Russian relations and increasing concern over the future of Russian-American business collaborations.
Mr. Mikhail Kalugin is considered a leading expert in the U.S.- Russian relations, and has kept open dialogue and diplomatic relations between the two countries in an effort to help businesses overcome current political issues. He believes that the U.S. businesses are still willing to work with Russia, despite Western sanctions against the country since the invasion of Ukraine. Growing political resistance between the two governments has slowed business efforts, but Mr. Kalugin points out that the U.S. business can still gain benefits from working with Russian companies.
