Video Translation For The New Bedford Whaling Museum
Boston, MA – Language Connections is a 30-year-old translation services company with decades of experience working to translate marketing materials for clients throughout the museum sector. Most recently, Language Connections did a video translation project for the New Bedford Whaling Museum. We subtitled their video ad (it encourages families to visit the museum) into German, French, Italian, Japanese and Chinese.
Video Translation for better marketing
To help the New Bedford Whaling Museum with this project, Language Connections followed a few steps. The first was to acquire their transcript and find a professional translator to handle each of the five languages requested. It was important to convey to these translators that the language needed to be accessible to the target demographic of the video. This meant the language should be light, fun, and easy to understand, since the video targeted both parents and children.
The second step in this video translation project was to pull the French, German, Chinese, Japanese and Italian subtitles from the translator’s document. We then added them into an organized, easily decipherable document for the museum staff. The New Bedford Whaling Museum chose to add the subtitles themselves to their own video. Language Connections sometimes simply prepares the translated text for clients, as in this case. For other video translation clients, we’ve added the subtitles to the video for them.
The last step of this project was to QA the subtitles post professional translating and before handing them back to the client. Language Connections’ project managers check over the final translations to make sure everything matches up and everything has been rendered into the target languages.
